I think the problem here is that it's an American advert for an American brand shown in Britain. The whole reason F1 (and open-wheel racers in general) have open cockpits was to make it easier for drivers to escape from their car in the event of fire. Now that the risk of fire is greatly reduced (KERS flambe not withstanding), it could be done. I'm not saying it'd be good or right, but it could be done.
